Welcome
I come from a family where the artists randomly appear through the generations. My parents are the furthest thing from being artists, while my sister and I are gifted. My sister is the reason I even picked up a pencil. She is six years older than I am, and I saw what she could create with one. I wanted to be able to do the same, if not better. I began with drawing my version of anime characters. They all had the same ginormous heads, unrealistically large eyes, and bodies so small that they would never be able to support the weight on their shoulders. Then I took an art class in the summer of fifth grade that helped me realize how my art improved if I had a visual reference. I was hooked. I would print off any image that appealed to me and used it as a reference. I would draw the exact image I printed either larger, or smaller than the original. This continued for 3 more years until I perfected my skill. However, by then I entered high school and with that I was in Ronald Reagan's art program. I became even more addicted. Every month a new project, a new skill to gain, a new medium to try to perfect. It is the best feeling to start from an idea and create something I am proud of. I am looking forward to all the new challenges I'll be overcoming this year and seeing how my skills develop through the IB Diploma Program.
